When Heart Finds Home

When Alena’s plan to pursue a PhD suddenly falls apart upon moving to Malaysia, following her Master’s in South Korea and an internship in Australia, she refuses to give up. Roam and Return

Embarking on a whirlwind journey from Malaysia to the far reaches of South and North America, Alena leaves behind a newly found relationship, unsure if it will endure the distance. Despite reuniting with her partner in Brazil and Argentina, their relationship is tested as Alena ventures solo through five additional countries. From the rugged Andes by bus to the expansive highways of the US on a road trip, she and her partner navigate the highs and lows of their long-distance bond — tested by differing perspectives and the strains of Alena’s constant movement. After nearly a year of soul-stirring adventures, she faces a pivotal choice: return to Malaysia to build a life with her partner, or continue her quest for self-discovery on her own terms.
